Introducing: The Greenwell Guides
Welcome to the very first look at something I’ve been so excited to share - The Greenwell Guides. They’re brand new, freshly launched, and already a big part of what Greenwell MEC is all about.
Where the idea came from
For years, I’ve been creating resources for learners in prehospital and healthcare education -everything from course slides and workbooks to reflection templates and study packs. But there was always something missing.
Learners don’t always need a massive textbook that weighs down their bag, and they don’t always want just a few notes on a PowerPoint handout either. What’s useful is something in between: a practical, focused guide you can actually use. Something written in plain language, that’s easy to dip into during study or before a shift, and that feels like it’s on your side.
That’s where the idea for the Greenwell Guides came from.
What makes the Greenwell Guides different
These aren’t just course notes repackaged. They’re designed with three things in mind:
Accessible – written in clear, straightforward language that makes sense whether you’re new to the subject or refreshing old knowledge.
Practical – packed with checklists, top tips, and examples you can actually use in real practice.
Supportive – they don’t just tell you what to know, but also give you tools for studying, reflecting, and looking after yourself as a learner and a clinician.
They’re not a replacement for training or governance -but they’re the bridge between classroom theory and real-world practice.
Current titles
To kick things off, the first three titles are now available:
The Greenwell Guide to Completing Prehospital Care Coursework
The Greenwell Guide to Working in Event Healthcare
The Greenwell Guide to CPD and Reflection
And this is just the start. Coming soon will be guides on topics like human factors, clinical decision-making, OSCEs and assessments, and more. The series will keep growing and evolving -shaped by what learners tell us they need most.
Why they matter
For me, the Guides aren’t just little booklets -they’re about creating something that really makes a difference to learners and clinicians.
Whether you’re a first responder tackling your first set of courseworks, a paramedic student facing OSCEs, or an experienced clinician stepping into the world of event healthcare, these guides are there to support you.
If one of them helps you feel more confident about referencing an assignment, calms your nerves before a big assessment, or reminds you to take a breather halfway through a long shift -then they’ve done exactly what they were meant to.
What’s next
This blog will be one of the places I share updates as new Guides are released. It’ll also be where I talk a bit more about the “behind the scenes” of creating them -what goes into shaping the content, and the tips and lessons that didn’t quite fit into the pages but are too good not to share.
And because this is Greenwell MEC, you can expect the odd post that ties in study, reflection, and even my love of coffee and gardening -because honestly, the little things that keep us grounded outside of work are just as important as the big things that shape our professional lives.
Wrapping up
So, that’s the Greenwell Guides in a nutshell: clear, practical, and supportive companions for your learning journey. I hope they give you something useful, something reassuring, and something that helps you grow as a reflective, confident clinician.
This is just the beginning -and I can’t wait to see how the series develops from here.
You’ve got this -and we’ve got you.
